Samuel Kenworthy is a Managing Director with Mercadien and a member of the firm’s Individual Services Group, working primarily in the tax department. He created and heads the firm’s International Tax Services Group, where he works with businesses and their global workforce to manage the human capital function as well as all aspects related to international assignments. Knowing that operating in multiple countries can be challenging, Sam takes a big picture approach and helps his clients put together a strategic plan, equipped with best practices to manage any urgent issues that may arise. Whether it’s U.S. individuals working outside the U.S. or non-U.S. individuals working in the U.S., Sam advises his clients on all matters, focusing on compliance with international tax treaties and implementing global tax equalization policies. Sam breaks down these complex issues for his clients so they can better comprehend their obligations when operating in multiple countries. His extensive knowledge allows him to help his clients in meeting their fullest potential in their global experience.
Sam knows that connecting and communicating with his clients is an important factor in doing business with them. He works closely with high net worth families, individuals and business owners, to effectively manage the basic to the most complex situations and life milestones. Specializing in multi-generational and international businesses, he feels it’s important to build and maintain a solid relationship to better serve his clients.
Before joining Mercadien, Sam built his foundation at a Big Four firm, where he managed tax compliance processes for multi-national taxpayer programs. He continues to build on this foundation and supports Mercadien’s growth, as well as the professional growth of other colleagues.
Personal Fact: Sam has a background in the restaurant industry. His family owned a restaurant in West Trenton, NJ, where he worked for many years; even met his wife there. He has four kids who keep him busy with all of their activities.
