Lovepreet Buttar is a director at Mercadien, P.C., CPAs and a member of the firm’s Nonprofit & Human Services Group. Ms. Buttar is responsible for planning and overseeing engagements for various nonprofit clients, including associations, schools, private foundations, and health and human services organizations. This includes training and supervising staff along with the planning and completion of audit testing procedures. Lovepreet’s experience includes performing financial statement and compliance audits and reviews and compilations. Her specializations encompass reporting, disclosures and compliance issues of entities subject to Uniform Guidance, as well as state and local reporting requirements. She is also proficient in the tax exemption determination process and maintenance of exemption for 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 501(c)(6) entities.
Well-regarded in the areas of internal control structures, audit program design, and implementation, Lovepreet has led internal and external training seminars on topics related to the nonprofit industry, accounting developments and tax return preparation. She also is a frequent author of articles for the firm’s newsletter, The Nonprofit Examiner.
Lovepreet serves on the board of trustees and executive committee the West Windsor Arts Council and is a member of the finance committees of the Princeton Area Community Foundation and Philadelphia VIP, the foundation of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
A Chartered Global Management Accountant, Ms. Buttar is a member of the American Institute and New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and licensed to practice in New Jersey. Lovepreet graduated cum laude from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance, and was vice president of the Beta Alpha Psi Society – Kappa Gamma Chapter.
Personal Fact: Lovepreet has a passion for traveling and has been to five countries so far, a count she hopes to grow each year. In her free time, Lovepreet enjoys reading, being outdoors and exploring new towns with Starbucks in hand.
