Lovepreet Buttar is a Managing Director at Mercadien and serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Nonprofit and Human Services Group. Ms. Buttar has over 15 years of experience in delivering high-quality assurance, advisory, and compliance solutions to a wide range of nonprofit organizations. Her specific areas of expertise include working with government funded entities, conducting Single Audits, and advising nonprofit organizations on maintaining their tax-exempt status, including compliance with annual IRS reporting requirements. Lovepreet is recognized and frequently sought out for her in-depth knowledge of nonprofit accounting, audit strategy, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and internal control frameworks.

Lovepreet works closely with a diverse range of nonprofit clients—including health and human service agencies, public charities, trade associations, independent schools, and private foundations—to help maintain financial reporting that is accurate, transparent, and aligned with evolving accounting and regulatory standards. In her role as the Audit and Assurance Practice Leader, Lovepreet directs the firm’s audit quality control, technical training, and the adoption of innovative audit methodologies across for-profit, not-for-profit, and government engagements. Her leadership helps to ensure that Mercadien remains a leader in quality, regulatory compliance, and client service excellence. She is recognized for her ability to provide actionable insights, foster continuous improvement, and cultivate a culture of accountability and high performance across engagement teams.
