Eugene Elias

A Managing Director with Mercadien, Eugene “Gene” Elias was responsible for technical reviews within the Government Services Group. As a founding member of this group, he carried out Anton Chekhov’s advice, “knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice.”  He was equipped with the knowledge and expertise to guide his colleagues and help mentor associates, and grew Mercadien’s Government Services Group into the diverse, sophisticated team that it is today. His years of experience gave him a competitive edge when it came to the nuances of regulations and requirements. He frequently worked with local, state and federal agencies, municipalities, authorities and boards regarding compliance and administrative matters. While Gene could help his clients with any challenges they may have faced, his detail-oriented mindset allowed him to specialize in technical matters.

A seasoned public accounting professional, Gene also advised his clients on budgetary, financial, and compliance issues very unique to the government sector. He worked with municipalities to review their annual and financial debt statements, and reviewed and consulted on annual municipal local authority budgets and debt issues.

Unfortunately, Gene Elias passed away in May of 2022. He will be sorely missed by his Mercadien family and will live on forever in our hearts.
