Description: Mercadien is a proud sponsor of YBConnected’s Connect to Conquer event benefiting Cradles to Crayons at the Union League in Philadelphia on Tuesday, February 27th.
Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school, and at play.
One in five children in the southeastern Pennsylvania area – nearly 162,000 lives in poverty;* sadly these numbers are on the rise – tens of thousands of children will experience cold winters without warm coats or footwear or attend school without the basic supplies needed to learn and succeed. Poverty among children is the highest it has been in more than 50 years. In response, more than 50,000 of the regions neediest children will be beneficiaries of the Cradles to Crayons program, this year.

In 2016 Cradles to Crayons:
• Provided more than 24,300 KidPacks of everyday essentials.
• Supplied 24,000 backpacks.
• Hosted more than 23,700 volunteers
• Served nearly 61,000 children in the Greater Philadelphia Region.
