Mercadien Hosts Seminar on Risk Management for Nonprofit Executives

August 2014

More than 30 chief and financial executives of New Jersey nonprofit organizations attended The Mercadien Group’s complimentary breakfast seminar, “How to Manage Risk,” at its offices on August 5, 2014. Part of the firm’s ongoing Nonprofit Revenue Enhancement Seminar Series, and qualified as continuing professional education (CPE), the two-hour forum identified numerous risk areas faced by nonprofit organizations and processes to assess and mitigate those risks. Considered a current top 10 concern by nonprofits due to the economic and regulatory environment, risk management encompasses and addresses the potential liabilities found in nearly every facet of an organization.

The seminar was presented by Lisa M. Thouin and Kyle A. Neeld, and moderated by Sherise D. Ritter, all managing directors of The Mercadien Group and certified public and chartered global management accountants.

Ms. Thouin and Ms. Ritter co-lead Mercadien’s Nonprofit Services Group, which was formed more than a quarter century ago and today works with more than 250 nonprofit organizations. It is one of the largest accounting practices in the Delaware Valley dedicated to serving the needs of nonprofit, social service, charitable and trade organizations. Mr. Neeld heads the firm’s Long-Term Care/Senior Living practice, as well as the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Group.
