Mercadien Announces Two Promotions to Manager

Conrad L. Druker, CPA and Managing Director of The Mercadien Group, is pleased to announce that Mr. Bryan E. Screws, CPA, MBA, CGMA, PMP, and Ms. Lovepreet Buttar, CPA, MBA, CGMA, have been promoted from supervisors to managers in the accounting firm.

Mr. Screws is a member of Mercadien’s Government and Compliance Services Group, where he plans, performs and oversees audits, reviews, compilations and agreed-upon procedures for public entities and businesses. He primarily manages the compliance professionals that perform inspections and monitoring engagements for various New Jersey state government agencies, authorities and municipalities. Bryan has presented to hospital, state and professional organizations and authored articles for the firm’s Government Examiner e-newsletter on electronic health records (EHR), compliance and HIPAA topics. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), and Project Management Professional (PMP), Mr. Screws is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) and the National Association of Black Accountants.  He earned a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Rutgers University Business School and Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration from LaSalle University, and serves as a member of the board of directors of Better Beginnings Day Care Center and as treasurer of the Lawrence Township Community Foundation, where he also resides.

Ms. Buttar is a member of Mercadien’s Nonprofit Services Group and is primarily responsible for planning and overseeing engagements, including audit-testing procedures, financial statement and compliance audits, reviews and compilations, and training and supervising staff, at associations, schools, and health and human services organizations. Her specializations include reporting, disclosures and compliance issues of entities subject to Single Audit OMB A-133, and state and local reporting requirements. Lovepreet is also proficient in the tax exemption determination process and maintenance of exemption for both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) entities.  Highly regarded in the areas of internal control structures, audit program design, and implementation, she has led various internal training programs on the nonprofit industry, accounting developments, and tax return preparations. Ms. Buttar is a CPA, CGMA and member of the AICPA and NJSCPA, from which she won honorable mention in the 2015 30 Under 30 Awards. Lovepreet earned her MBA as well as a BS degree in Accounting and Finance from Rutgers University.

In addition to these two, Mercadien promoted 19 other professionals throughout its service groups – including compliance, financial institutions, government, individual and family office, nonprofit and tax – reflecting its continued business growth and focus on the professional development of its associates.  The firm employs approximately 130 people and completed an expansion of its offices here last year.
