Frank Pina Selected to Receive the Annual NJBIZ Forty Under 40 Award

Frank Pina, CPA, CFF, CFE, CGMA, managing director of The Mercadien Group, principal in Mercadien, P.C., Certified Public Accountants, and a leader of its forensic and litigation support practice, has been selected to receive the NJBIZ 2014 Forty Under 40 award, celebrating New Jersey’s most accomplished business professionals under the age of 40.

Mr. Pina is a certified public accountant and fraud examiner, highly regarded in the fields of corporate accounting and forensic investigations, fraud detection, and civil and criminal litigation support. Certified in financial forensics and a chartered global management accountant, he joined Mercadien in 2012. Frank’s experience includes working with large international law firms and federal, state and local law enforcement and government agencies, including the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the FBI, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, and the Philadelphia City Controller’s office. He is a frequent presenter and author on a variety of topics related to fraud detection, corporate investigations, forensic interviewing and internal controls.

Frank is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services community. He serves on the board of directors and chairs the speakers committee for the Philadelphia chapter of the Certified Fraud Examiners and is an active member of that city’s chapter of the Turnaround Management Association.

Mr. Pina is a graduate of Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with dual concentrations in Accounting and Marketing. An active civic volunteer, Frank donates time and financial support to numerous organizations, including Philadelphia VIP, the Union League of Philadelphia, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, The Mercadien Foundation, and Our Lady of Fatima Church.

For this year’s annual program, an independent panel of judges scored the winners on four criteria: professional accomplishments, leadership, vision, and community service. Mr. Pina and the 39 other winners will be honored during an awards reception and featured in an NJBIZ supplement later this month.
