It’s no wonder with Bob’s unique background that he adapted the Japanese proverb, “Vision without Action is a Daydream, Action without Vision is a Nightmare.” Focusing on coupling vision with action, Bob has become a subject matter expert in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) matters. As a director of Mercadien’s Financial Institutions Services Group, he is in charge of overseeing AML efforts, including regulatory requirements related to transaction monitoring and reporting, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and has extensive experience in AML compliance programs such as Know Your Customer (KYC), Client Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), transaction monitoring, Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) and AML training.
Bob’s background and clear-thinking nature led him to work as a vice president and group manager of the Global Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Strategic Investigations Group with a commercial bank. His previous experience in law enforcement – more than 20 years with the Internal Revenue Service and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms – made him distinctively qualified to lead a team of individuals to investigate high-risk matters regarding potential financial crimes. He reviewed end-to-end processes focused on AML risk identification and mitigation, reviewed reports and regulatory submissions to ensure compliance, and created continuing education training.
Personal Fact: Bob finds solace in spending time with his family, watching his son at swim practice and traveling to see his daughter perform jazz, rock, and classical music for Oklahoma City University. When together, they love relaxing at Chadwick Beach, NJ and swimming in the ocean.
