Elizabeth LaCorte is a manager with Mercadien, P.C., Certified Public Accountants, and a member of the Forensic & Litigation Support Services Group. Ms. LaCorte has more than 3 decades of experience in the accounting profession and has been with The Mercadien Group for more than 25 years.

Elizabeth has worked on numerous bankruptcy cases throughout her career, for which she prepared financial analyses and schedules for the FBI, SEC, U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Trustee; researched bankruptcy tax issues and prepared debtor tax returns; and performed forensic accounting for the recovery of estate assets.

Additionally, Ms. LaCorte’s bankruptcy experience includes preparing fee applications, plans of reorganization and disclosure statements, monthly debtor reports, and other reports as required by the U.S. Trustees Office. Elizabeth has served as a financial advisor to several Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Trustees over the years.

Another area of Elizabeth’s expertise is in records examination to determine fraudulent transfers and hidden assets, internal control weaknesses and embezzlement of funds. Her litigation support experience includes reconstructing financial transactions and preparing written reports. She has aided the NJ State Attorney General with records examination in various cases involving business controversies in both the public and private sectors.

Ms. LaCorte contributes articles to the firm’s newsletters and has been quoted in Practical Accountant and New Jersey Business magazines regarding bankruptcy and forensic accounting topics. She also frequently presents on these topics to professional organizations for accountants and attorneys.
