In operation since 1907, Tabor’s vision has led to a rich history, growing from a small orphanage to a multi-service community-based organization with multiple locations. Tabor offers a full range of services to children and their families. The agency strives for excellence, is a full member of the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services and maintains various other affiliations. Tabor services children, youth, young adults, and families with locations in Doylestown and Philadelphia. Programs include foster care, special needs adoption, in-home services, adolescent life skills training and independent living services, parenting classes, and community living homes. The agency is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, Division of Children, Youth, and Families, in the areas of private agency administration, adoption, foster care, and independent living. Mental health and intellectual disabilities programs are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Behavioral Health/ Intellectual Disabilities Services (DBH/IDS).

In 2013, Tabor’s Acting Executive Director (and CIO), Robert Haussmann, was faced with the challenge of managing leadership time and his continued involvement in the day-to- day administration of Tabor’s IT-Infrastructure. Based on technology advancements and the growth of Tabor’s community services, it was no longer possible for Dr. Haussmann to be the organization’s full-time Network Administrator.

Enter Mercadien…after several meetings, Tabor retained the Mercadien team to perform a comprehensive Technology Assessment; the resulting report delivered the promised results of identifying risks and vulnerabilities along with a practical action plan to address a refresh/modernization initiative.

Along with Mercadien’s assessment support, Tabor elected to enroll in Mercadien’s MCare-Integrated-IT-Service; primary-network-elements including servers, security appliances, and corporate switching infrastructure were covered. The MCare support has provided Tabor with real-time monitoring of mission-critical devices, ensuring that important service updates are applied and that a response system is in place to address problems that occur. The relationship has allowed Dr. Haussmann to focus on his strategic obligations for the Tabor organization.
