In 1967 the Mercer County Improvement Authority (MCIA) was created under the County Improvement Authorities Law to undertake certain projects for the benefit of the residents of Mercer County. The mission of the MCIA is to serve the needs of Mercer County improving the quality of life for the residents by providing programs and services for the County, Municipalities, school and fire districts, and not-for-profits in the areas of financing, project management, redevelopment, solid waste, and recycling.
At the inception, MCIA engaged Mercadien in a Business Continuity / Disaster-Recovery review; the analysis produced a comprehensive report that identified continuance of operation challenges related to both IT-assets (hardware) as well as operational programs (software). Mercadien reviewed the risks with MCIA management, offering feedback on corrective actions; it was agreed that Mercadien would prepare a detailed action plan to address specific recovery measures designed to improve MCIA’s overall ability to maintain operations in the event of a disruption.
Following the implementation of the BC/DR recommendations, MCIA retained Mercadien to perform an IT-Infrastructure assessment; the resulting deliverable outlined a complete profile of all MCIA IT-assets (hardware & software) as well as their (then) current IT- support-model. Extensive review meetings took place; the result was an approval for the Mercadien team to move forward with a Technology-Refresh campaign. The initiative provided MCIA with a balanced blend of premise-based IT-functions combined with Cloud- services, allowing operational efficiencies and economies of scale.
Investments made in upgrading technology brought about the review of how Long-term IT- Administration would be conducted. Mercadien presented their MCare Managed-IT- Support program demonstrating how IT-service could be delivered through a seamless, proactive monitoring plan that would provide real-time analysis of MCIA’s complete environment, resolving problems before they had a chance to escalate. Mercadien enrolled MCIA in their MCare-Enterprise level of support; MCIA had the peace of mind knowing that all IT-services (remote & onsite) were covered as well as CIO-Planning to ensure future upgrade designs would be addressed.
