Mercadien Partners with Community to Raise Ebola Awareness and Preparedness

November 2014

Albert Giple, a Senior Accountant at The Mercadien Group, is teaming up with the Liberian Council of Churches, East Coast Outreach Development International, Power of Caring and others in the Liberian community in Trenton to raise awareness of and preparedness for Ebola at the Trenton Ebola Awareness Walk on Saturday, November 22, 2014. The two-mile walk is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.; it will start at City Hall, 319 East State Street, and finish at The African United Methodist Church, 1201 Greenwood Avenue, Trenton.

Giple represented The Mercadien Group at a press conference held by Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson on November 14, 2014, where the Trenton Ebola Awareness Walk was first announced. Giple, who emigrated from his war-torn homeland of Liberia 11 years ago and is a respected civic leader in the local Liberian community, was invited to support and partner with community leaders regarding the awareness initiative.

Giple recently organized a “jeans for charity” fundraiser at The Mercadien Group to raise funds for Community & Healthcare Intervention for Liberian Development (CHILD), a nonprofit organization that is working diligently to help contain Ebola and prevent the spread of the virus, at crisis level in Liberia. A member of the firm’s Government Services Group, Giple has been employed with Mercadien since 2008.
