November 2014

Girl Scout

Marguerite L. Mount, CPA, CGMA, managing director of The Mercadien Group and chair of The Mercadien Foundation, presented a workshop, entitled “Securing Your Financial Future,” to parents and other adults affiliated with the Girl Scouts of Central & Southern New Jersey (GSCSNJ), at its Girl Leadership Summit held at Princeton University on November 1, 2014. Ms. Mount’s well-attended seminar, one of eight on the program at the six-hour event, detailed the financial tools available to help individuals navigate life milestones and take command of their financial futures.

Such issues were a major focus of the summit program, which was primarily organized for girl scouts in grades 6 through 12 and based on major tenets, such as developing leadership and positive decision-making skills, espoused by the GSCSNJ, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Cherry Hill and serving 37,000 members in 10 New Jersey counties. Ms. Mount’s presentation addressed the following financial issues: myths versus realities of women’s financial literacy and well-being, money management, paying for college, planning for retirement, creating legacies for families and charitable organizations, and tax planning.
