Frank Pina Selected as Champion CPA by Greater Philadelphia Chapter of PICPA

Princeton, NJ and Philadelphia, PA – The Mercadien Group is pleased to announce that Mr. Frank Pina, CPA, CFF, CFE, CGMA, a managing director and the co-chair of the Forensic and Litigation Support Services Group, was selected to receive the Champion CPA Award by the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). The award, which recognizes the member who exemplifies the highest qualities of leadership through demonstrated participation, contributions, and commitment to the Institute, the CPA profession, and their community, will be bestowed at the Chapter’s annual meeting and luncheon on May 5th.

Mr. Pina also was named this month as a Top 40 Under 40 professional for 2017 by Drexel University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with dual concentrations in Accounting and Marketing. He is recognized in the latest issue of Drexel Magazine.

With Mercadien since 2012 and certified as a public accountant, a fraud examiner and in financial forensics, Mr. Pina primarily helps individuals and corporations manage business controversy, execute transactions and maintain compliance. He is highly regarded in the fields of forensic accounting and investigations, fraud detection, civil and criminal litigation support, bankruptcy and reorganization, and other dispute consulting areas. Frank has broad experience assisting legal counsel and their clients with a variety of forensic engagements involving sophisticated employee dishonesty, false financial reporting, misappropriation of assets, vendor fraud, lost profits analysis, rebate payment evaluations, compliance audits and contract disputes, inspections and assessments. He also assists with Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering engagements for financial institutions.

Licensed to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Colorado, Mr. Pina is a frequent presenter and author on a variety of topics related to fraud detection, corporate investigations, forensic interviewing and internal controls. In 2014, he was honored to win top 40 under 40 emerging business leader awards from both NJ BIZ and the Philadelphia Business Journal. In 2015, he received the Young Leaders Award from PICPA.

A life-long resident of Philadelphia, Mr. Pina is an active member and volunteer for numerous professional and civic organizations, including the PICPA – executive, careers and lifestyles committees; the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants – forensic and valuation services community; the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners’ Philadelphia chapter – member of the board of directors, chairman of the speakers committee and past chapter officer; the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Central NJ chapter – board member and chairman of the advocacy committee; the Turnaround Management Association – member of the national and local chapters; the New Jersey Society of CPAs; Philadelphia VIP; the Union League of Philadelphia; the Mercadien Foundation; and YB Connected – founding member.
