The inaugural Money$peak Competition, presented by the Mercadien Foundation and Rider University, with participating teams from Hopewell Valley, Lawrence, Nottingham, Steinert, and West Windsor Plainsboro North high schools, kicked on Wednesday, June 3. The Mercadien Group, Rider University, New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group, First Choice Bank, Fulton Bank, Random Thought Studio, and Titan Technologies made this experience for Mercer County high school students possible through their support.
“The New Jersey Department of Education took a big step forward when they made a half-year course in personal finance a high school graduation requirement,” stated Christopher Seiz, executive director of the Mercadien Foundation. “Now, the Mercadien Foundation seeks to keep that forward momentum going in order to insure every student has a solid understanding of the basics of personal finance when they leave high school and enter their next stage of life. With Money$peak, students must fully understand their topic area before presenting it. With greater, long-lasting understanding, we build a generation of young adults who take charge of their financial future and excel in their chosen fields.”
