Description: Join Mercadien at a seminar for nonprofit executives on Revenue Recognition (Topic 606 – ASU 2014-09 (amended by ASU 2015-14) and ASU 2018-08). Lovepreet Buttar, CPA, MBA, CGMA, PSA, Director in the Nonprofit & Human Services Group will present.

The seminar will cover the main provisions of the two new Accounting Standard Updates (ASUs) that will be effective and significantly impact nonprofit organizations in the coming two years.  We will cover the guidance as well as examples; discuss the implementation guide that Mercadien developed; and options for an organization’s transition approach. In this workshop, attendees will learn:

  • The main provisions of ASU 2014-09 (amended by ASU 2015-14) – Revenue from contracts with customers
  • The main provisions of ASU 2018-08 – Clarifying the scope and the accounting guidance for contributions received and contributions made
  • Examples of grant agreements and walk through adoption of ASU 2018-08
  • A transition approach for both ASUs
  • An implementation plan for both ASUs
