Description: Salvatore Zerilli, CPA, CAMS, Managing Director of Mercadien’s Financial Institutions Services Group will present a session, Impact of Fintech on Model Governance, at the Central NJ Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors’ (IIA) webinar on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Larry J. Hershman, Managing Partner of Black Cipher Security, LLC will also be presenting a later session on Cybersecurity.
Impact of Fintech on Model Governance (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM): An institution utilizes many different systems and software, which is being accelerated through partnerships with fintech companies. Types of systems being onboarded may include Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or Artificial Intelligence (AI). With new technological innovations & more systems coming into play every day, it’s critical to ensure these systems make it to your model inventory list for proper criticality evaluation. Attendees will learn tips and tricks on capturing these new systems as well as how to assess the criticality of each to identify the proper model risk management tactics to deploy.
Cybersecurity (11:00 am – 12:00 pm): Cybersecurity issues are in the news every day. We hear about id theft, business email compromise and ransomware. During this talk we will learn about what hackers are after, techniques they use and practices you can use to reduce risk and minimize loss.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will enhance their knowledge of risk associated with newer technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) as their usage increases. This will help internal auditors perform better risk assessments of such technologies. The second hour will cover the risks in cybersecurity and risk mitigation techniques.
