The Mercadien Foundation conducted surveys within Mercer County in mid-2013 to determine the areas of greatest need and the most appropriate tactics for delivering financial literacy education. Surveys focused on four population segments; high school educators, high school students, adult individuals, and business owners. The survey results aligned closely with national surveys of financial literacy and opened conversations with community leaders.
Video interviews of individuals revealed the true importance of financial education during the summer. The resulting video, shown during The Mercadien Group’s 50th anniversary celebration, defines financial literacy within the community and gains perspective from community members.
